John B. Menzer was named Vice Chairman, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in September 2005. His responsibilities include Wal-Mart Stores U.S.A., Information Systems, Benefits, Logistics, Real Estate, Financial Services, Compliance and Strategic Planning. From June 1999 through September 2005 Mr. Menzer was President and Chief Executive Officer - Wal-Mart International. He had full operating responsibilities for all of the Company's International operations in 15 countries outside the United States. From September 1995, when Mr. Menzer joined the company, to June 1999, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Prior to joining Wal-Mart, Mr. Menzer was President of Ben Franklin Retail Stores, Inc. He also held various other positions during his ten-year career with the company.

In September 2004, Mr. Menzer was presented the "Retailer of the Year" award on behalf of Wal-Mart International by DSN Retailing Today. He received the 1999 CFO Excellence Award from CFO Magazine and was featured in the cover story "Birth of a Salesman" in a 1997 edition of CFO Magazine.

In 1999, Mr. Menzer led the company team in the acquisition of Asda (a $16 billion revenue food store chain in the United Kingdom). Mergers and Acquisitions: The Dealmaker's Journal named the acquisition the "Corporate Cross-Border Deal of the Year".

In 2003, Mr. Menzer was team leader in the acquisition of Seiyu, Ltd. Acquisitions Monthly magazine named the deal the "Asia Deal of the Year". Seiyu is a $9 billion revenue retail chain in Japan.

Mr. Menzer has been a featured speaker at various conferences including The Fortune Global Forum in Beijing, China (May 2005); Business Week; CFO Magazine's CFO Rising; Forbes; CIES World Food Business Summit in Prague, Czech Republic; and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He was featured in the cover story "Wal-Mart International: The Division that Defines the Future" in the June 2001 edition of Discount Store News Retailing Today.

Mr. Menzer received his BBA and MBA degrees from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, and was named 1997 Alumnus of the Year by Loyola University Graduate School of Business. He has served as judge for the National Finals of the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Regional Exposition for several years. He was presented with the Golden Eagle Award, a Champion of SIFE, for his outstanding contribution.
