Description

Since 2003, CDC has worked with external partners through PA # 03030 to make a significant impact on asthma and community health in general in seven cities (New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Richmond, Oakland, St. Louis, and Minneapolis/ St. Paul) to implement comprehensive, collaborative, community-focused intervention projects.  Each of the sites works through community-based coalitions to implement and coordinate multiple complementary and synergistic interventions in populations of need and aims to decrease the burden of asthma among children in inner city populations. CDC’s National Asthma Control Program is (NACP) supporting efforts to translate scientific information into public health practices and programs to reduce the burden of asthma. CDC works with states and other partners to plan, implement, and evaluate asthma control efforts, and to conduct or support educational efforts.  The aim of the project is to make a significant impact on asthma and community health in 7 cities  with large and unmet asthma control needs and implement comprehensive, collaborative, community- focused intervention project
