Tribal Self-Governance Program - Planning

Program Title

Tribal Self-Governance Program - Planning

Agency/Sub-Agency

IHS/Office of Tribal Self-Governance (OTSG)

Description

Planning cooperative agreements are awarded on a one-time basis and allow tribes to prepare for compact awards.  The agreements allow tribes to gather information to determine the current types and extent of programs, services, functions and activities (PSFA) available in their service area to plan for the types and extent of the PSFAs to be made available to the tribe under a Compact/Funding Agreement, which identifies health programs assumed and monies available to the tribe for these programs.  However, it is not mandatory that tribes apply for a Planning Cooperative Agreement to pursue Self-Governance status.
