Community Development

HHS Community Development category grants provide assistance to states and local communities to plan and develop a broad range of activities to improve the health and well-being of their communities.  Examples of funded activities are to:

  • reduce poverty and empower low-income families and individuals to become self-sufficient;
  • support operation of rural health research centers and analysis of full range of rural health services issues;
  • provide technical assistance and services for research on healthcare costs, quality and outcomes;
  • ensure community health care delivery;
  • support the independence, productivity, and integration and inclusion into the community of individuals with developmental disabilities; and
  • support community-based programs for women's health.
