Health IT Education

Health IT Education  IconEducation is integral to FHA’s mission of securing the exchange of interoperable health information across federal agencies. Many healthcare organizations are already using health IT systems, but they may not have a sense of how their systems can feed into nationwide health information exchanges to support more effective patient care. FHA provides education to move beyond the use of disparate technologies by individual health organizations to focus on interoperating technologies that reflects a cohesive national strategy. FHA uses education to promote the adoption of interoperable technologies, explain why this vision is important and help train the workforce responsible for making this vision a reality.

In a sector rife with data, technologies, standards and vested stakeholders, it is critical to bring interested parties together and obtain a common understanding of goals and processes. By translating complex data into a digestible form, FHA’s education initiative team provides the information needed to make sound healthcare IT decisions that conform to government and industry requirements.

FHA’s education initiative accelerates the adoption of Health Information Technology Standards Panel-endorsed standards and promotes the secure exchange of interoperable health information. FHA provides early education about these standards and how to comply with them in the context of the National Health IT Agenda. It also delivers courses about ongoing compliance and reporting requirements. At the same time, it fosters networking among participants and sharing of best practices for adopting standards and health information exchange solutions.
