FHA Vision

FHA, managed within ONC, is driven by the goal of widespread use of interoperable electronic health IT systems. More than 20 federal agencies work together through FHA to identify common needs in healthcare IT and create collaborative solutions that: benefit multiple federal agencies; bring solutions to achieve health information interoperability quickly; and most importantly, serve citizen needs. The solutions built through FHA support in-need populations served by multiple agencies throughout the government; populations such as the elderly, the underserved, active duty military personnel, children, Native Americans and the disabled. Through FHA, federal agencies such as the CDC, CMS, DoD, FDA, HHS, NIH and VA come together to work side-by-side to implement health IT systems that communicate with each other.
