Health Care Reform Insurance Web Portal Requirements

The Affordable Care Act requires the establishment of a website through which individuals and small businesses can obtain information about the insurance coverage options that may be available to them in their State. This interim final rule adopts the categories of information that will be collected and displayed via the website, and the data we will require from issuers and request from States, associations, and high risk pools in order to create this content.

  • Training: The Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) will host training for States and Issuers of health insurance in the individual and small group markets on data collection to support the web portal. States, High Risk Pools and Issuers are strongly encouraged to attend training on data collection. Training was conducted by Webinar and conference call on Friday, May 7, 2010.
    • Training for States and High Risk Pools: Friday May 7, 2010 from 1:00pm - 2:30pm EST.
      The NAIC will provide the training time and conference line information to the DOIs.
    • Training for Private Insurance Carriers: Took place Friday May 7, 2010 from 3:00pm - 4:30pm EST.
      The AHIP, BCBSA and ACHP will provide the training time and conference line information to their Issuer members. We intend to post to this website, on May 6, the training materials. The final data collection template and instructions was made available on May 12.
    • Issuers: The final data collection template and instructions were released the week of May 10th.
