Composition of the Budget Pie Chart

This is a pie chart in which each slice represents a portion of the NIH budget. There are eight slices. The first slice, in brown checks, is labeled Research Centers with 9.9 percent of the budget. The next slice is yellow and labeled Intramural Research representing 9.6 percent of the budget. The third slice for Research and Development Contracts is red and white striped and represents 9.6 percent of the budget. Research Training is a dark purple slice representing 2.7 percent of the budget. Research Management and Support consumes 3.9 percent of the budget and is represented by an orange and white stripped slice. The sixth slice is black and represents Facilities Construction which makes up 0.4 percent of the total HHS budget. The seventh slice, Other Research, Cancer control, NLM, Superfund, Office of the Director is light purple and represents 11.0 percent of the budget. Finally, Research Project Grants makes up 52.9 percent of the budget and is represented by a black slice.
