The Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (ASAM) provides leadership for HHS departmental management, including human resource policy, grants management, acquisitions, and departmental operations. The ASAM also serves as the operating division head for the HHS Office of the Secretary. A special responsibility of the ASAM is to help bring about improvements and effectiveness that can be achieved by structuring HHS as a united department.
