C’Reda Weeden has served as Executive Secretary since March 2014. Beginning in March 2012, C’Reda served as a Senior Advisor to the Executive Secretariat where she was a key member of the team, working as a senior leader for the Department’s regulatory initiatives and coordinating biannual department-wide submissions of regulatory review activities. She previously served the department in the Office of the Counselors and as a litigation attorney in the Office of the General Counsel. Through the years, C’Reda has managed a range of complex health policy, legal, management, and operational issues while working closely with staff in the department and across the Administration.
Previously, C’Reda worked as a child welfare caseworker in Ohio, as well as an advocate for children’s issues at the national nonprofit Fight Crime: Invest in Kids. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Human & Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University, and a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
